Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I usually take a couple weeks off from blogging around the holidays. This is my last blog for 2024 and most likely, much longer! Starting in 2025 I will be blogging intermittently. When there is a topic of interest, perhaps current affairs, or just something in my journey that is shareworthy. Could be a blog a week, might be a couple of months!
Why the sudden change after four years of blogging weekly? It comes back to the old adage, “if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear, does it make a sound”. I haven’t advertised my blog on Facebook in quite some time as the comments on my ads got quite nasty! I still get some decent traffic when I share blogs on my Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn feeds. But readership has steadily declined over the past four years. In 2024, I am looking at just under a thousand site visits.
My reasons for writing are twofold; first I like the feeling that comes with just maybe, my shared experience helped someone. Incredibly satisfying! The second, and perhaps more important reason is that writing, and especially blogging, has been incredibly therapeutic for me. It is cathartic to share thoughts on a topic for the world to see. As an added bonus, it has helped overcome some of my fears of social media (and the internet in general)!
2024 proved Murphy’s law is alive and well in the universe for our family- what can go wrong, will. Our Family has had illness, separation, job change and a few other curve balls. Not complaining, it is all just living, but I believe I need the hours I dedicated each week to writing and publishing a blog to address Family matters. It’s actually pretty challenging coming up with meaningful content each week.
Writing, editing, and finding a decent, unlicensed pic to accompany the blog can take some time. I just want to get the couple of hours a week back for a while. Who knows, maybe once my life slows down a bit I’ll pick back up to the weekly frequency! So, it’s not good bye, just see you later. I am quite certain there will be plenty of blog worthy material in 2025.
Regardless of belief system, this time of year is a great time to reflect on hope for peace, joy and goodwill. No matter what earthly trials we may face, I truly believe there is a plan for each of us and we will make it through!
Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year! See you again in 2025!
