Last Minute Shopping
I identify as a last-minute Christmas shopper. While I’ve never started shopping on Christmas Eve, I’ve also never finished before Christmas Eve. I’ve shared previously my disdain for Black Friday Sales for a number of reasons. As a rule, I never Christmas shop in November except maybe for the handful of times my Family and I were stationed overseas and failure to plan ahead could lead to big disappointment for the kids.
For me, this week, the second full week in December, is the sweet spot. Crowds in the stores have subsided (a little), the “I don’t know what I want” statements have disappeared and with rush shipping, online purchases will arrive in the nick of time. Save the 23rd and 24th for those last-minute gift ideas and Christmas shopping is a wrap (pun intended).
If you are like me and starting your shopping this week, I am here to help! I’ve got four books that would appeal to the hardest to shop for folks on your list!
Writing to Lead: A Look at Military Leader Development Through Academic Writings
My first outing as an author, this is a great read for those interested in one aspect of how our military gets after leader development. Our nation’s military places an incredible emphasis on leader development. The U.S. military is an up or out system, service members must complete required leader education and seek leadership opportunities as long as they chose to serve.
Writing to Lead examines leadership development during one Army officer’s journey on a 24-year military career through the lens of writings submitted as academic requirements for Army Professional Military Education and Advanced Civil Schooling. This book provides a personal account of the professional military education experience during the direct, organizational and strategic levels of leadership.
Best of all the eBook version is available for FREE download or paperback for purchase on Amazon!

In Millionaire on a Worker’s Budget, I relate my personal journey from growing up in a working-class family to financially comfortable by espousing five financial truths and twenty-seven no nonsense tips.
More interestingly, see the truths in action as the book follows a notional subject over 25 years! Using real numbers during periodic financial reviews, witness how these simple truths applied in our daily lives can potentially serve as the cornerstone to build financial success!

Collect Rent, Don’t Pay It: A Beginner’s guide to Rental Property Investing
For those of us in the working class, real estate is the best means for building generational changing wealth. Our family has been very successful with rental properties, and I wanted to share our journey. This self-help book is perfect for those who are considering taking the plunge into rental property investing.
Many Americans won’t reach their long-term financial goals by just investing in employer retirement plans. Owning real estate is a financial truth for the worker to build wealth. Although considered passive income by the IRS, real estate investing requires a personal commitment. It is in fact, a side business!
From setting the conditions before even looking to eventually growing the portfolio, follow a candid look at each step of our real estate investment journey. Learn how we grew a successful multi-million-dollar real estate investment portfolio while still maintaining day jobs. Determine if actively managing your portfolio or entrusting a property manager is right for you.
This book is 150 pages packed full of real-world examples and usable content, including examples of ledgers, financial spreadsheets, lease excerpts and much more. Available now in eBook and paperback on Amazon!
Military Retirement: An After-Action Review
I was very honored to serve a 24-year career in the U.S. Army. Returning to civilian life was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done! I want to share what I learned about the transition all those who serve must make. This is a great read for the military folk in your life, whether they have two or twenty years in!
We all know when entering military service that someday we’ll have to leave; then why is it such a scary proposition? Join me as I share the lessons learned captured in the three years since my own successful military retirement journey.
Everything from finding a job, to navigating the VA process and all the other considerations a retiree must face, this book is packed with helpful information. I share “sustains” and “improves” on several important topics to help the reader plan their own successful separation.
Every veteran makes the transition out of service, but few take the time to record their observations on nearly 100 pages of easy-to-read text! Best of all the eBook is available for FREE download or paperback for purchase on Amazon!
Well don’t say I didn’t try to help my fellow last-minute shoppers! And if you are looking to return the favor, I welcome Amazon reviews for any or all of my books! Stay safe out there and above all enjoy the holiday season!
