Merry Christmas!
Last week I identified as a last-minute shopper. This week I am proud to identify as one who wishes others a Merry Christmas!
The use of Merry Christmas as a common holiday greeting certainly has decreased in recent years. I am not sure I exactly understand why.
Like most things, I believe use of the expression is all about context. I don’t believe those who utter the expression are attempting to force their beliefs, condemn other’s beliefs or in any way trying to offend the recipient of the greeting.
Rather, I believe most people are using the expression in the context by which it is very commonly understood. Merry Christmas signifies to many the celebration of peace, joy and goodwill towards all. I think most would agree those are things we can all celebrate regardless of beliefs.
With that, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope the spirit of peace, joy and goodwill remain in your home throughout the new year!
I’ll take a blog break next week but will be back with great new content starting every Tuesday in the new year!
In the meantime, if you need some reading over the holidays, check out my books on Amazon!
